On October 14, 2026, the Taiwan Ocean Affairs Council (OAC) hosted the 2026 International Conference on Sea Lane Security at the Taipei International Convention Center (TICC). The conference convened global maritime experts to address regional gray-zone challenges and critical supply chain resilience.

Representing the Yokosuka Council on Asia-Pacific Studies (YCAPS), Center for Maritime Capacity (C MAR), Senior Research Fellow Dr. Chiew-Ping Hoo presented in Session 3, "Enhancing Resilience against Maritime Threats." In her presentation, Dr. Hoo offered key strategic insights into the risks associated with potential quarantine and blockade scenarios in the Taiwan Strait. She highlighted how Taiwanese public and private stakeholders can leverage Southeast Asian maritime corridors and regional partnerships to strengthen long-term supply chain, economic, and cyber resilience.
